I'm trying to figure out what would cause this Colt Compact 1991/Officers model to all of a sudden stop ejecting some magazines. The mags are CMC Shooting Star 7rd magazines. I have taken out the Ed Brown allen head grip screws and put the factory flat head grip screws back in, to no avail. I have swapped the Hogue finger groove rubber grips back to the factory hard rubber grips, again to no avail. These mags have given no trouble in the past.

Details please. Full magazines or empty? If empty...has the slidestop lug broken off? You'll have to remove it to see.

Do the magazines eject part-way and stop...or do they just hang in there, thumbin' their noses at ya?

It was doing it both ways. I loaded the mags with just 6 rounds and they are all working; except for one. It stays in the gun regardless if the mag is empty, or loaded. It also doesn't seem to matter if the mag has 6 or 7 rounds.

Magazine is out of spec. Measure it on the flat part just below the area where the lips flare out. Should be .535-540 inch.

If I'm measuring in the correct spot, I'm getting .525"-.530".

It appears these mags like to be loaded with 6 rds not to the 7 rd capacity of the mags. The one mag is out of spec it seems. Per SOP, the Colt mag has been flawless.

Tuner, thanks for your help ;) .

I have about 8 CMC shooting star mags, two don't fall freely in my Colts, but work perfectly fine in my other guns, my Colts seem to require mags with perfect tollerences. I've noticed the stainless CMC mags are more reliable than the standard blued ones.
