Picked up Enhanced Government with very worn nickle frame. Nice beavertail and not so nice plastic trigger. Will clean it up and post pics for you guys and girls.
Sorry Hawkmoon but this one will not be going original but will get a nice two tone finish with smooth ebony grips, new trigger, and hardcore internal parts.
The S&A magwell will be going to a friend who digs that sort of thing.
Pics will come soon then the final ones in a couple of months.

Why don't you post a picture so we can see the great job you did?

Here are some after pictures.
The grips are what came on the Colt. They are going to the parts bucket.
The grip safety, hammer, and MSH with magwell were blasted and then the rust removed with wire wheel from the checkering. I believe the finish is nickle but, it was almost comletly gone on these parts.
The barrel, chamber, and feed ramp were given a light polish while keeping the sharp edges. Inspection of the barrel revealed no pits or bulges.
A detail strip revealed that al internal parts were also plated.
I was thinking it odd that someone who spent hundreds of dollars or more on nickle finishing frame and internals as well as fitting a new grip safety and MSH with magwell would trade his or her pistol for next to nothing.
I bought this at Carter's Country in Houston for $450.00. I am certain that they gave the seller at least $150.00 less for it.
Has anyone seen this modifications done standard to a Colt Enhanced. Could it be a Custom Shop offering. I know that Carol at Colt could tell me more in detail if I paid for the records but I would rather spend that on more Colts :D

Nice Colt cajunfj40! Did you do the cleanup yourself? ...Looks good! Have you had a chance to shoot it yet?
I've never seen this as a "standard" modification for an Enhance model....
BTW, if you don't end up parting with that MSH, it's exactly what i need for one of my 1911's, and i'd buy it for sure ;).

You know, Colt did make MKIV series 80 Gov'ts with nickel frame and blue slide, but discontinued in '86. Yours, being enhanced, would not be one of those.
What is the serial number? I can't see it in the pic.
Either way, you did good at 450. It could be a great shooter or you could strip the frame and refinish it.
