Does anyone other than Colt make (made) Gold Cup Commander-stye frames? I looked at Essex and Caspian but no luck. Thanks.

As far as I know, the only difference between a "Gold Cup" frame and a "standard" frame is the cut out for the trigger. The "Gold Cups" have a wider trigger and need a wider than normal trigger cut out.
King's Gunworks in Glendale, CA had that modification on their price list. IIRC it was about $75. King's Gunworks will stop gunsmithing in March of this year, although they will allegedly remain in the parts business. I imagine other competent gunsmiths could make that modification to a "standard" frame if you really wanted it.
By the way, King's is one of a few companies to offer aftermarket triggers to fit "Gold Cup" frames. Dlask is another.
You might call Caspian and see if you order a frame whether they could modify the trigger cut out for you.

The only difference between a Government size and Commander size frame is the length of the dust cover. You can use a Commander length slide on a government size Gold Cup frame.

The Commander frame is different internally, as well. The seat for the guide rod is about 1/10" closer to the slide stop pin hole, and the frame rails are shorter by the same amount. Not all "commander" frames have that small change, but the Colts do.

I have never done it but I would at least call Colt and see if they would do it. It might take buying a Commander and sending it back to the Custom shop, as I am not sure if they would sell only the frame.
