What lubricant should I be using on my LtWt XSE Commanders slide? This is my first Aluminum framed pistol and I was wondering if any special slide lube is suggested?

I don't know what the "official" recommendation is, but I use a light application of Lubri-Plate grease followed by a couple of drops of Gunbutter or Castrol 5W50 synthetic motor oil.

I use CLP or Wilson Combat grease. I like the grease because it stays on better. CLP attracts less dirt than Wilson Combat. Both work well for smooth slide action.

I usually use CLP. If I am going to shoot my carry gun at the range, say on a weekend, I usually clean and lube it before going to the range and of course after I come back from the range. Same for a gun out of my safe I have not shot in some time.

I run with just the smallest amount of synthetic wheel bearing grease, I have never had any issues with it!

I use FP-10 and/or GunButter.

I like tetra gun grease or FP-10. They work for me.

A colt is good enough that you could use WD-40 if you wanted to. I think you can use just about any lube so long as it properly lubricates the pistol.

Tetra lube or fp-10 both great choices...... ;)

WD-40 is not a lubricant, it is a moisture displacer, more like a solvent. Lubrication quality is temporary at best. I wouldn't use it on a gun for lube.

I sure have a lot of suggestions to try before I find the one thats right for me. I never realized how many different options we had for slide lube. I going to order some Wilson Combat lube and give that one a try first.
Thanks for the suggestions and keep them coming!

This is becoming an interesting thread.

Exactly! I'm just saying that a Colt will run with anything. I've run a couple of Colts I bought used on Gun Broker dry when they came into my FFL I opened the box and walked into the gun range portion and put 100 rounds through them without lubing the pistol prior to firing. Both Colts ran 100%

WD-40 does still have an oily base to it. I don't use it nor would I use it on any of my pistols.

Some of the folks around here (Indianapolis In) use MOBIL ONE. I have used Breakfree clp for many years. Good stuff, no problems. Jerry
