Slidestop problems

I purchased a fusion extended slide stop and put it on my pt1911 and since have been getting many failures to lock back after the last round. I cleaned the gun and took a look at it and it looks like the slide stop has quite a bit of space(relativley speaking) between the slide stop and the outside of the frame. Where the pin goes in its flush but bows out slightly as you follow it farther aft. I played with it a little and it looks like this is allowing the followers to jump around the slidestop and not lock back. There is no binding at all.

My question is...

Does this sound like a defective part or just something that need more fitting on my pistol?

Im comparing this one to my original slide stop.

BTW mags used were a mix of chip mccormick shooting stars, powermags, and factory mags.
