These are the best lumps of coal I've gotten in a long time, beats a funky tie:

The first is a like NIB 1977 Nu plated Combat Commander. It's still so stiff I don't thinks it's had more then test rounds at the factory thru it.

The second is a late 1970', early 1980's Nu plated Combat Commander. It has seen some miles, and some neglect but it came w/ over $300.00 in after market extras and I've fixed all the problems except the mag release and that part is on the way.

I only plan on shooting the 1st one long enough to break it in an ensure reliability with a home defense round, then it's going in a night stand drawer/safe.
The other one is a shooter and play gun that will see the majority of my play time shooting.

As with any "collection", I have one more gun on my list of have to haves. All right, maybe two. A original WWII issue Ren Rand and maybe a Springfield Spec Ops.
I'll just have to wait and see what Santa brings next year.

RAM350002,

I got lucky today a found a Combat just like the one you show on top. What is this finish? Is this finish called Mate Nickle, Stainless or what? Got it for $650. Has had very few rounds thru it. I almost got a Springfield GI the other day and boy am I glad I waited. Serial # starts 70SC3XXXX. Do these numbers mean anything. I know this is a Pre 80 series as there is no block. Does the first two numbers mean anything? Does this mean it was made in the 70's 80's or ? Anyone know? What does yours start with? Anything close?

What is this finish?
If the serial number ends in SC it is Satin Chrome, Colt's name for a nickel finish, I believe.

Anything close? My Combat Commander with SN 70SC46XXX was made in 1976. The finish was called "Satin Nickel" in Colt's catalog. I paid about $100 more for mine with no box about a year ago...sounds like you got a deal!
