How about these? My new MC Operator has the Armory Kote green. However, it's really hard to catch the real color with a picture for some reason. This is the only one I've taken that looks like what it really looks like.

Very nice shot sk8n3rd!
I myself dug through all 49 pages looking for the green army kote.
Zscorp, do you also want Green-T finish posted?

While I love the Springer "U.S." checkered wood stocks, I switched to the black Alumagrips for shooting and carry. The Armory Kote, seems so far to be a GREAT finish. Also, when I bought my GI, I didn't realize it would be TWO-TONE: OD green and matte black! I LOVED it when I got it from my FFL... seems to be an EXCELLENT factory finish.
Y'all take care.

Like Mick's G.I. in OD... this one also has black grip panels... or stocks as you may... these are Hogue's black rubber double diamond checkered... and the Springer is my son's.

...it's really hard to catch the real color with a picture for some reason...
You're so right about that...!!! :butthead:
Take a look at this parkerized Mil-Spec... photographed with primarily available late afternoon sunlight from an open window.
It almost comes off looking "olive drab"!!!
http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w266/pentaxuser01/1911A1SAMS.jpg
The photo in my immediate prior post is of a G.I. OD taken with fluorescent and some sunlight as a primary illumination...
I had better luck with this Beretta 92FS OD... which is an "olive drab" finish on the slide, much like Springfield's Armory Kote. The frame is an anodized finish.

I'm working with the lighting some... and of course, two different cameras are involved here... one Pentax and the other Fuji... there are differences there also, and plan to retake some photos of the Springer G.I. OD for a more accurate color rendering.

I wasn't sure how I'd like 'em, especially when carrying under a shirt. I had feared the rubber grips would catch on the clothing and cause the shirt to ride up and expose the grip. But I've come to appreciate the rubber grips a lot. I really like the feel of the front strap, too.

My third pistol, back in the early 80s, was the Italian-made Beretta 92F in 9mm. I had to sell it in a bind in San Antonio in the late 80s. While I LOVE the 1911 platform, I have a Taurus PT92AF, in 9, which is IDENTICAL to my Italian-made 92F pre-U.S. military contract. It's a fine gun, 100%.
Where did you have your Beretta 92FS refinished??? It is BEAUTIFUL, sir. I haven't carried or shot my Taurus 9 in years... but keep it for my own reasons. Comments not permissible here. The Taurus blue, like my two former Berettas (92F, 84B in .380 cal), is excellent... Currently, my PT92 has rubber combat wrap-around unigrip with finger grooves... And I have a Galco for it.
Just curious. Much prefer my 1911s in .45 or the one in Super 38, to a 9; but my Taurus is a good pistol.
You and yours take care and be safe.

Hi Mick,
I'm grateful for your kind words and very appreciative... thanks!!!
I enjoy shooting the 9mm and enjoy having a Beretta 92FS (the Taurus, being a "twin", these comments apply equally)... so we'll just call it a 92 "design" and it's a good one, Mick... as you understand. My heart is in the 1911A1... which was actually the first pistol I ever bought. I couldn't say it any better than you... right?
That "green" finish on the Beretta is factory applied... one of their 92FS OD models... which were made about 2004... only 2000 were produced with this factory olive drab finish. Slow sales caused a second run to be cancelled... I hope they don't make anymore green 92 pistols. Thanks again for your compliment on her looks!!!
Tom's mention of those Pachmayr grip panels above sends me off remembering the first set of Signature Pachmayr that I bought back in 1981. Those had a gold Colt medallion inset and a Colt script logo molding into the thumb swell. Still got 'em... and I doubt my liking for this design will diminish any sooner than my "1911" facination would grow stale!
Nothin' green in this photo... but there's a Springer in it... and a Colt... and two sets of Pachmayr Signature grip panels showing... :D

Tom, that just goes to show that a good design doesn't quit working just because it's "aged"... they remain as functional and valid as a 1911A1 is today... and my HP-41C... :)

Sir, you "say it" VERY WELL! That's a beauty of a Beretta... I had an Italian 92F in the 80s... blued... lost it to financial needs/bad divorce in San Antonio TX in '88. My 84B Beretta was actually the first pistol I ever bought... followed by its "big brother", the 92F (pre-U.S. military contract, of course). DANG good pistols. Excellent.
But, while my LOVE is the venerable 1911 platform, I still enjoy seeing these "other guns" we JMB fans have... my Taurus, my Ruger P90 (FIRST .45 ACP pistol, and also a dang good firearm), still in my stable although it's rarely carried, but did qualify for my first and renewal Texas Concealed Handgun License with it, and it may (thinking about it) become my "truck gun" over one of my 1911s now... But, man, I LOVE the 1911: fits my hip, my eye, my hand, my mind... and all 7 of mine, are extremely reliable, including my beloved but re-stocked Springer GI45. I'm buying a Bushmaster M4A2 Birdcage til April; but, grip/stock pimp that I am, I'm thinking of some Digital Camo checkered grips for my little GI45 in the spring... love the Alumagrips black smooths and checkereds, but camo... we Texas folks...
Y'all all take care and be safe. Y'all are SUCH a great bunch of folks here, world-wide.
Vive el 1911!

Hi Mick,
When you get those digital camo "stocks", you know we're gonna want to see them awfully bad!!! ;)
The Bushmaster M4A2 is gonna require some photo results also!!! :D
Mick, I've never shot any of Ruger's semiauto centerfire pistols but I do know their reputation for rugged dependability. Your P90 is proven that to you and there's no reason why you couldn't use it for a "truck gun". Of course, if you should ever stumble onto a deal on an older 1911A1 that looked a bit ragged but sound internally... perhaps at the right price it would be the perfect one to keep under the seat, so to speak! I believe my first parkerized Mil-Spec had traveled some dusty gravel roads the same way... I was forever cleaning the dust off of her. Didn't effect Springfield's parkerized finish much... oiled her well inside and out after cleaning and she looked as pretty as new... and hasn't missed a beat since.
Thanks!

Will be a couple of months in re: those camo stocks for ANY of my beloved 1911s (hee hee, including my Super 38: man, I've kept those hand-made rattlesnake skin stocks on it, it's sweet like that, they actually are holding up and FEEL GOOD); there's the "payment plan" on that M4A2, and you regulars KNOW I am a "grip pimp"... LoL... I thought about my P90 as under the seat gun, but, like your Springer, I'm still with my RIA Parked. I've shot 1911 platforms more than any of my other guns (P90 a close second) combined; the platform, for me, just WORKS. Feels good... shoots good... functions good... and now, I'm way more comfortable with the SA 1911 in handling than I am with my DA PT92AF and P90: I loaded up a magazine night before last, in the P90... racked a round in the chamber... and put the thumb safety on... when that hammer fell, even though I've had that thing for almost 10 years, I JUMPED involuntarily! LOL... Just am more comfy EVERY way with that venerable ol' JMB Slabsides... function, form, feel, fit. Holster or hand. Eye and mind. BUT: idea of a little scarred veteran 1911/A1 which is still sound inside, GOOD... if you care for 'em, regardless of finish, a few "scars" don't hurt 'em... Like First Lady, my Colt's USGI M1911 from 1918: she's GOT the WEAR marks, but she ain't got ANY rust... and is 100% reliable, not like she'll have to perform much, if ever again...
You and yours take care.

That was insightful and thoughtful information, Mick... and your mention again of the digital camo "stocks" got me thinking about how nice a set of "woodlands camo" might look on a Springer G.I. Armory Kote OD pistol. If anyone is making these, I sure would love to know. Of course, that did send me off thinking about that Colt "Camo Companion" 1911A1 pistol that I posted last year or so...
http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w266/pentaxuser01/ColtCamoRS.jpg
http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w266/pentaxuser01/ColtCamoLS.jpg
Now, if I could find those "stocks"... :D
This 1911A1 was a special model from Colt (evidently a limited quantity... don't remember the year, but if I recall correctly, it was Kathy who verified this one as a genuine Colt issue) and I'm guessing this pistol also had an epoxy type finish applied to it like the Springfield OD G.I. does.
One of these would make a very nice compliment to a Springfield OD G.I. pistol!!!

North Force,
That's a great looking pair of Springers... and I especially like the Armory Kote green on the Loaded. My compliments to you on the splendid photo work too!!! http://forum.m1911.org/images/icons/icon14.gif
BTW, the Colt Camo Companion isn't mine... :( I should have clarified a bit better... ;)
I had posted that one up earlier in the Colt section... I don't think too many of us had ever heard or seen one. IIRC, it had a "camo" Colt HBAR that went with it, hence the "Companion" name. The photo was "borrowed" for posting.
