Hey guys and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
I'm new to this forum, but have been visiting it for a few years. I figured it's about time to chime in.
I've been thinking about changing the sights on my GI, using a YoBo Retro rear. However, I'm not sure what height front sight I should get that will yield the same POI as POA at 25 yards. I'm planning to use a King's front sight, since I like their profile.
BTW, this forum has been very educational and entertaining, thanks for everything you guys have posted.
I posted this pic on another thread, but I know much you guys love pics...

I use the .185" Heinie/Trijicon with my Yo-Bo's.
Welcome to the forum. ;)

Thanks for the quick reply OD*.
I was playing with the idea of changing over to a dovetail sight. I assume the Heinies are, if so I'll give them a try.
Thanks Again

You're welcome Sir.
Yep, the Heinie's are dovetailed. ;)

I installed a staked Kings front sight and then a Springfield Mil-Spec front sight on a GI Champ, both with a Yo-Bo rear.

Keep in mind that the SA Custom Shop will install a dovetail front site for $50 including the cut, site, and cold blue ($75 for nightsite). If you don't have the tools already this could be the cheapest option, plus the work will be warrantied.

According to the post I listed the standard series 80 front sights match the retro rear.
How much work was required to install the retro? I'm rather shy about taking a file to my own guns.

That's correct, I have put them on 5 Series 80s.

Very little work is needed, take a file and lay it on a flat surface, set the sight on the file and take a little material off the base of the sight, do not file on the gun. ;)

Yost and co. changed the name of their Arizona operation to Heirloom Precision (http://www.heirloomprecision.com/), and that's what Brownells now sells the sight as (http://www.brownells.com/aspx/NS/store/ProductDetail.aspx?p=21448&title=SEMI-AUTO%20RETRO%20REAR%20SIGHT). I seem to recall that they've stated that they want to focus on 'full-house' custom builds rather than products like the 1* and small parts, though, so get yours while they last (if they truly intend to stop selling small parts).
