I've ordered a 1911 frame and "parts kit" from Sarco, Inc. - everything necessary to build a complete 1911. The frame is reported to be "Rock Island" quality. Has anyone purchased this frame and parts kit from Sarco? If so, would you comment on the quality and ease of assembly of the parts? What is the name of the manufacturer on the frame? What is the finish - blue, parkerized?

Thanks,

Dondale

Welcome to the Forum! Yes, I have purchased several frames and kits from Sarco. The frames I bought are RIA manufactured and have the Armscor Precision Inc. import mark ( "API-PAHRUMP NV PHILIPPINES) on the underside of the dust cover. The kit parts are not the best quality, but are priced accordingly. And some fitting will probably be required, so be patient when you assemble it. The frames can be purchased in either Parkerized or blued finish...I've had both. It'll be fun!

I used the Sarco kit to build the Frankengun. My kit was sourced through The Sportsmans Guide Company (before I knew I could buy it cheaper through Sarco) and SGC doesn't sell frames, so I used a Foster receiver. Everything went together pretty well, once I understood how it all was supposed to work. Took the completed pistol to the indoor range, the owner and his helper wisely hid upstairs when I tested it ... and the first shot cut the 'X' at 25 feet.

I have subsequently built another pistol using an Armscor/RIA receiver, and that one also went together without any major hiccups. In its current incarnation, it's a 9mm wearing an Armscor .38 Super slide and a sarco 9mm barrel.
