I want to replace some of the stock parts on my S.A.M. Commodore. Could members recommend a recoil spring and guide rod? I was thinking Wilson Combat...

Any other recommended parts that I should/could replace?

"If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

You haven't mentioned what you hope to accomplish by changing parts. For example, why change the guide rod? Do you want to go from a conventional recoil assembly to a full-length guide rod? If so, Wilson Combat is a good choice, but ... what's the motivation behind making the change?

As to other parts, IMHO it's impossible to recommend anything without some idea how you use the pistol and what you hope to accomplish. Sometimes throwing many and parts at a pistol isn't an "upgrade," it's just throwing money and parts.

Now unlike Hawkmoon I say change it, but be sure the change is good or when you make a change make it a learning experience.

So take your pistol as is and shoot, say 500 rounds, then 100 rounds over sandbags and measure group size at say 25 yards. Group size for each 10 round group. Be sure to use the same lot of purchased ammo or same reload. See how it does. Since you shot 10 10 round groups it would be neat to post an average group size, the best group size, and the worst group size. Change out the guide rod and shoot another 100 rounds over sandbags. Again measure the group size at 25 yards using the same procedure. Let us know the difference you see.

I think I know the answer.

Adding a full length guide rod is something most of us do at one time or another and then many of us get tired of the more difficult takedown and it ends up in whatever place unused parts go to.

I would stick with a conventional GI-style guide rod. My own experience is that guiderods only complicate the take-down.
