Where to buy frame/slide?

Hiya Folks,
I'm kicking around the idea of building a 1911 from the frame up and have read that the RRA Frames/slides are a pretty solid starting point. I have a gunsmith that is willing to work with me on this as I know there's a whole lot of learning to be had. What I'm having difficulty with is where to buy the frame/slide assemblies? I see them for sale on the RRA site but was wondering if there are other dealers out there carrying these at perhaps a bit of a discount? Thanks much for any advice.

Thanks. I saw the tab unfortunately, none of the websites I surfed to from there had any listings for the frames/receivers or RRA products in general. I was hoping there was sort of a "usual" place that sold them at a reasonable price.

Sarco in NJ has them www.sarcoinc.com

Personally, I'd rather deal directly with Ivan, Ray and the crew at Advanced Tactical. Sarco's price is probably the best you'll find and you don't really save much compared to buying from the source. If you buy it directly from Advanced Tactical, I think they'll be happy to answer questions during your build (if necessary).

RRA is a pretty long way from Rock Island...I'd call them and see if they can provide a list of dealers stocking just frames and slides. I'd suspect there are none - probably have to buy direct to get other than a finished gun.

There won't be any dealers or suppliers that will carry our frames, slides, or small parts. Any dealer can order frames direct from us when we have their current FFL. Slides and everything else you can order direct yourself. There can be extended wait times for frames and or slides depending on if we are waiting for them ourselves.

No worries Hawk. After spending two hours searching Sarco's website and trying to figure out who this Ivan character is, I gave up...... Just kidding! I made the connection the second I read your reply. I can easily make the same mistakes! Thanks for the effort :)
