I love this gun, more accurate than I am as many people say. I want to upgrade the trigger and other parts to be "tighter". What I mean is that I met a former sponsored competetion shooter at the range, and at 72 years old he can shoot 10x better than me. What he calls his "old junker" is a pre WWII 1911 that a friend of his enhanced. It looked like junk but he shot his reloads into one ragged hole and left. I kept the target. He played with my Taurus and said the trigger needs some work, too much creep. Then after we both shot he said I can shoot well, then he gave me some pointers. I dry fired his, and no creep, just a crisp pull and light too. He said his buddy only does his guns as the liability is too much. We have a local smith aside from Cylinder and Slide and here is what I am thinking:

You can fix the trigger of your pistol yourself. Go in the "Technical Issues" forum and read the article called "The Poor Man's trigger job". Easy to do with basic tools.

If you do it yourself, just remember that the Taurus hammer has that safety mechanism that came with that little wrench to set the hammer safety. That could cause some safety issues if not change the way your trigger/hammer works drastically. A stock 1911 hammer may not work in the PT1911 for that reason. Be sure of what you are doing before starting and be at the range with the gun pointed downrange when you load it for the first time after installing the new trigger.

I like to test dropping the slide with dummy rounds to be sure there are'nt any issues before I put a loaded round in the firearm.
This is not a sure test, but if the hammer wont follow the slide, your half way there.
Also first time you fire it only put 2 rounds in the first couple mags. Full auto can ruin a 1911!!!

I am not sure it will ruin the pistol, but it sure can ruin your day if some rounds go the wrong way.
