I have a SA Loaded 1911. I shoot it in bullseye and falling plate matches. Currently I have some Pachmeyer grips on it, and they are OK, but I think a set of good quality competition grips would help.
Saturday I won the centerfire match with it, as well as the rimfire match, but I want a higher score. It seems as if there is a void under the palm of my right hand.
I have read that Pachmeyer makes a grip with a palm swell. How much more bulky is it over the standard Pachs?
I sometimes feel as if I am moving my hand around trying to find the correct feel with my grip, and that isn't helping me at all. My times are good but I really don't think my grip is consistant.
For what it's worth I installed a set of Volquartsen competition grips on my Ruger MkII .22. They feel really good in both single hand bullseye and in 2 hand plate shooting. I had tried a set of Hogues with a palm swell but it didn't feel as good as the Volquartsens.
I guess that makes my hands on the large size.
I appreciate any and all suggestions, especially if they come with pics and links.
Thanks,
Jim
