Hi all, I'm new here and to 1911s in general. I have used Brownings and Sigs in the Army, but now that I am on civvy street (eight years now), I am keen on purchasing a 1911 type for shooting and tactical training (first thing to go with me). Being in Canada, CCW is not an option, sadly.

I am looking around to see what manufacturers and models offered would be worth picking up. The Operator caught my eye and I would like to know from the folks who own one if they are worth a closer look from a former Infantryman's point of view.

Cheers.

Welcome aboard Maple Leaf Pilgrim! :)

My TRP Operator had about 3 (I don't have my range notes handy) failures to feed in it's first 200 rounds. From there to approximately 3k rounds it has been perfectly reliable. For the money the TRP Op is a very nicely finished pistol. It has a slide to frame fit that borders on more expensive guns from Les Baer and the Springfield custom shop. The bushingless bull barrel is somewhat unique and produces above average accuracy. It is also only available on the TRP version of the Operator.

Thanks much, Brass Balls. I am liking that MC Operator Springfield is offering as well.

Nice photo.
What knife is that? It reminded me of the Chris Reeve Green Beret.
