I want to replace the firing pin in my 5" 1911. Which of these two would you suggest: EGW or Ed Brown Hardcore?

I like the EGW. I just put one in my 5” SA GI with the EGW over sized firing pin stop and it worked great. It had a lot more meat on it than the titanium one that Springfield used. I removed the ILS system and titanium firing pin and spring when I went with the over sized stop. It has made me a real sweet shooting springer. :D
PS. If you get the EGW I would also get the firing pin spring they have to go with it.

you might want to make sure that your 5" 1911 uses a .45 firing pin. Some .45s use a 9mm pin. It's lighter than a .45 pin, and cheaper than a titanium one. Drop test stuff, eh?
I don't know why you want to replace your fp, but, if you are getting a std. .45 pin, you should also get a Wolf high power fp spring. IMHO.

It is virtually a toss up between the two manufactures. I use EGW whenever possible. I would shy away from the titanium FP though. It might be lighter but titanium molecules tend to micro crack and fail sooner than hardened tool steels from impacts. Make sure the dimentions of the FP are correct for your slide. This is one of the only times you can "cheapin' out" sort of speaking and increased performance and reliability in a 1911.
