This year for Christmas money is tight and I was thinking of puting in a small Brownells order of some more common parts and tools that would be good to have on hand for gunsmithing.
One Item I find when I work on 1911's is that factory Disconnectors on the flat part are thin. So I was going to order a couple of Nowlin Disconnectors.
They carry a Night sight staking "clamp" to hold front sights in place. I thought that would be handy to hold the front sight in place while staking it.
Can you or the other members give some gota have stuff?

Never used the Night Sight Staking tool, so I can't call it.

For disconnects, I'd go with Briley. Even though they went from machined steel to castings to...according to Wichaka...MIM...Every one that I've seen and used have been very good.

What are some other "Wish I hads" that I should stock?

Maybe the better question would be what brands of what parts do you use?
I noticed you often recommend factory Colt parts. I need to get the most bang for the buck.

New Old Stock USGI parts...but my supply is dwindling, so I use/recommend the following OEM Colt parts:

Sear spring...Plunger assembly...Pins...Thumb safeties...Recoil systems...Slidestops...Standard ejectors...Commander ejectors for Colt Commanders or those with correctly machined slides.

The sears and disconnects are MIM, and even though I've never noticed a problem with Colt's OEM parts...one never knows about MIM.

Ed Brown plunger tubes...Wilson Heavy-Duty extractors...Berryhill's top-grade sears...
Brown machined barstock Hardcore hammers (rowel-type) Berryhill's hammers are also a good way to go. Some are cast...some are machined. Shoot him an E-mail and inquire. His sears are beautifully done, and fully machined. Haven't seen one of his disconnects yet, but they may be the best bet. Briley disconnects have been good to me so far...machined or cast.

Wolff springs...EGW firing pin stops...MGW or EGW barrel bushings...Either Brown or S&A mainspring housings, depending on whether or not I need a lanyard loop. S&A's sometimes won't work with Springfield's pistols. Hit-and-miss. One won't work, and another one will. All S&A's that I've tried in Norincos need fitting.
