Bud +1. If you are concerned about saving a little I would try the Springfield.

Les Baer also does 9mm.

For about the same money as the Springer, my current favorite is the STI Trojan 9mm. Very well made. Nice fit and finish. Triggers are a tad rough, but aren't they all for under a grand?

True Baer will do a 1911 but most people wont pay that price for a 9mm thats why i didnt mention it

If you can find one, colt did produce a 9mm for a little while.
The only down side is they are pretty hard to come by.

Here is a picture of the one my dad has:

Other than Kimber and STI, are there any new 4 inch 9mm out there?

Hi

My Springfield 9mm is a very nice pistol. I suggest you take a look at one.

That said, a 5" barrel 1911 is a big pistol for 9mm. You have a lot more weight / size than you really need. There are a *lot* of choices in the world of 9mm.

Bob,
That's a real nice gun. However, I have a STI Trojan, and I am looking for a 4" compact.
