I recently experienced breakage in the guide rod of my SA Compact SS LW .45 ACP.
The system uses a two spring, one of which is captured, system. The guide rod is two piece, and the end piece is smaller diameter than the base piece. It evidently broke at the thread. I could not get the gun apart and had to send it to SA.
SA repaired/ replaced the complete guide rod, but I am wondering if anyone else has experienced breakage of that part?
I also have the original one piece rod, and both systems seem equally reliable as to functioning of the gun.
Debbie at SA said that this has not been a problem with that gun.
Anyone else with this problem?
