I am pretty much of a neophyte on the subject of military 1911A1's so I would like some comments on this "Colt" 1911A1 that I saw on Gunbroker. I believe this pistol is a Remington Rand frame with a Colt slide. Seller is representing it as a Colt and the bid is currently $1500. I know where a new in the box RR is for about that price.

I agree with you, that's a Remington Rand serial number and Col. Atwood inspected Remington Rand and Ithaca.

I don't think they are calling it new but it sure looks like it. I have seen a few of them in gun shows over the years that appeared never to be fired in the original box.

The pistol is refinished and has a post-war commercial slide from the early 1950s. These slides were purchased by the military to use with rebuilds.
Seller mentions an OG mark, which may be a rebuild mark for Ogden Arsenal. Seller doesn't show the OG mark, so...?
The pistol might be a military rework, and maybe not. More detailed photos might give a clue.
Seller doesn't give an opinion on the pistol; he just describes it. Good, detailed photos are required with a description.
