Okay, what is the deal here: I just watched a video where Todd Jarrett actually suggested slapping the trigger rather than following the trigger out to reset. Is this actually advisable?

And by "slapping" he means completely letting go of the trigger, then begin pressing again. I've found when testing this when dry firing, I shift to the 7 o'clock position again.

Was the video on line, where we can watch it?

Keep in mind that just because Todd Jarrett can make something work, doesn't mean that the rest of us can.

No, it was on DVD. If I can figure out how to extract a 20 second clip of that part, I'll put it somewhere so you can see. I don't know that I'll figure it out though. :o

It's probably on youtube. He's got a bunch of videos there.

He does recommend it. Mr. Jarret's reasoning is that it eliminates short stroking his LDA trigger when speed shooting. Others use it on a regular 1911 as well, for the same reason.

He doesn't really "slap" the trigger, but extends his trigger finger all the way to the front of the guard and then starts the trigger press all over again. He does call it a slap, but it is a lot smoother than that. It does look like a slap when he is shooting fast, but he is as smooth as a hot knife through butter.

He tried to show me -at the SHOT show- how to do it, and it does work, but a duffer like me is better off using the trigger the old fashioned way.
