I am thinking about sending a Gold Cup Trophy to be customized. I want to send it to Colt but I am stuck because I also have a SAA third gen. that I really like and to make matters worse I have an Anaconda that might be deserving of this service. I would like to have one done so I can leave it for my son. What do you think is the best one that deserves this service….
Thanks,
Scott.

That would be a tough one. As you can tell by my signature, I am very fond of the Gold Cup Trophy, but in this case I would probably send in the SAA. In the long run I think that it would be the nicest heirloom. Trophy would be my second choice. Nobel thought on your part either way.
Best wishes,

cloc10, I would do the Trophy since you would not have to do too much in terms of $'s to customize the pistol. The barrel is already match grade,if I'm not mistaken, and you could add a few custom parts along with de-burring and it would be ready to go. Trade the Anaconda for a Python and leave it alone, since the Python is a very fine revolver out of the box and will always maintain it's value, and then some, over the years. The fit/finish and action are superior to the Anaconda and are generally prized by revolver aficionados. Your son will appreciate inheriting a NIB Python 10-20 years from now. Go with blue and keep it preserved.

Cloc10,
If your intent is to leave your son something that will grow in value and will be kept in a safe or safety deposit box as an heirloom rather than fired then it is the Colt Single Action Army (SAA) hands down. If it is one he may carry or fire on occasion then, all else being equal, the Gold Cup Trophy is a viable choice. However, if he is old enough to display a preference for one over another then the one he prefers should be strongly considered. Unless he shows a strong preference for the Anaconda that would be the first I would eliminate from consideration. All the preceding is IMHO. The same goes for any other advice you receive. Those of us who provide our opinion are doing merely that, giving you our opinion. In the end it is what feels best to you and/or your son. If it were me I would give strong consideration to my “gut feel”. In the final analysis it is you and your boy who should be satisfied. May I add, your son is a very fortunate lad indeed.
Hope this helps.

I thank you all for your input, it has been very helpful . Right now I am waiting for Colt to send me there updated custom price list. As that will play a big part in the one I choose. As I have put allot of thought into this. I think I am leaning towards the GCT, because my son will probably want to shoot it. I will keep you all posted as things progress.
I hope Colt custom wont let me down!!!!!!!!
