I Have 1911a1 That Was Mfg. In 1939. It Has An Excellent Orig. Blue Finish. When I Got The Gun It Had Grips Made From An Aircraft Windshield. What I Can't Find Out Is, What Is The Correct Orig. Grip For That Time Of Issue. Brown "plastic", Wood, Dble Diamond , Etc. Any Help Would Be Great

The original grips were full-checkered walnut, with approximately 28 lines of checkering between the screw holes. Modern reproductions of these grips almost always have much finer checkering.
Good luck finding a pair, because they're really hard to come by these days and can be very expensive.
