Nice. Unfortunately here at the WAC show in Puyallup, WA I haven't seen any new Colts for over a year. The few times I even see Colts at all they're either abominations somebody screwed with, or they're something like a plain-jane ORM 1991 stainless somebody's trying to get rid of. I've been looking around for a nice blued pre-80 Commander, but I didn't even bother to go to the show this weekend because I knew I'd be wasting my time.

Let's just be careful of what we say, someone can get hurt. "Everywhere"? Not everywhere! I went to the annual show for "Hunting, Shooting and Outdoors" here in Athens, which is supposed to be the place for seeing these things, and I didn't see one!

I suffer when you say you guys can see them everywhere, and I have to go to M1911.ORG to see them! Darn Europe!

larry,

Consider yourself fortunate. Just across the border here in TN, there are not so many and they are always high. Consider yourself fortunate that you have access to good selections of our favorite firearms. Even the gunshops down here don't have any. Then the Commandos feel like they have to fabricate stories about how Colt's is in its umpteenth bankrupcy and they are still on strike and they are not selling to the public any more, I could go on and on.

Kind regards,

Chuck

I can feel your pain, here in Ohio we have many shows with no Colts and the gun stores say Colts are over priced and over rated, and then try to sell me a nock-off. As this has created many heated exchanges, I am a proud owner of 12 of the finest guns and they are all COLTS!

Kind regards,
Scott

i went to the 'gun' show at Gibraltar in mt clemens this weekend and one dealer had 3 NEW colt 1911s in his case. one was a stainless NRM 70 i think. i dont know the models well enough to say exactly what he had, but they were all $900 or less. they were all very nice...

No doubt there can be quite a bit of regional variance w/ regards to availabiity. FL show's can vary quite a bit by promoter, & location in the state. It's almost worth going on the odd chance though. The last show I attended a guy had a pretty much NIB blued XSE he said he'd take $700 for...in talking I figured out he thought it was a regular "Govt" model. You never know! :D

Agreed, though, it's a little discouraging having to routinely contend with over-inflated prices AND sellers...

That would be a nice buy on the blued XSE.

John, I did look over the offreings for you at the WAC show this weekend--John Holcomb beat you to a pretty nice 1911(WW1 vintage) but other than that, you didn't find anything worth buying :D

I am in Raleigh North Carolina and when the gun show comes around there is usually a good selection of Colt pistols to be had if you have the money.Which as far as I am concerned they are worth it. I called Colt about them going out of business or not selling to the public and all that was never true. I heard Colt split one side for military and law enforcment and the other for the public. You could never go wrong with a Colt.

I love gun shows! Most of the guns I own came from gun shows, either I bought them there or my friends buy them at a show, shoot them a little and then tire of them and I buy them. The gun shows in PA are usally loaded with Colts, Kimbers, Springfields and the various copies. If any of you are in driving distance of Harrisburg PA there are now 4 800-1200 table shows per year by 2 different promotors at the Farm Show Complex that are loaded with handguns in general and many 1911's. The instant check law that was passed several years ago in PA has really made the gun shows the place to see and buy handguns.
