Has anyone heard of or seen this model? It looks like the markings say it is a Series 80. It is stainless with dovetailed sights that look similar to Novak's. It has an elongated hammer and beavertail grip safety. Found a picture at the gunsworld site and was just wondering about it.

Hello Scott,

Here is a link to the Special Combat Government that is currently being produced.

http://www.colt.com/CMCI/Special.asp

This model has now been made for several years. It has varied in the finish from two tone to all hard chrome. It has not been made in stainless steel to my knowledge. Nor has it come with the Novak style sights.

There was at one time a Carry Model that was a Royal Blue finish with night sights, but they were not the Novak style. They were more of a blade type.

These are very nice pistols in either configuration. They recently started making them in .38 Super. Most everyone that has them really like them. They were selling in the $1400.00 range before the latest price increase.

Here is also a link to a thread that shows the "Carry Model" that you might be interested in.

If there is a new model out there that is stainless steel with Novak style sights, please let me know, I would definitely be interested.

With kind regards,

Chuck

I hope this link works. Any ideas what it is, custom or factory?

That is pre XS version Colt's Government. There were very few of these made to my knowledge. They were introduced around the same time as the Defender. They had the same features including the ski jump sights made by Cmore and the real beavertail. I like them and would not hesitate to buy one if I had the funds and a nice one came available.

With kind regards,

Chuck
