Is the factory installed mainspring housing for the Gold Cup supposed to be metal, or plastic?

The Gold Cup National Match that I bought new in 1995 came with the plastic one. The Gold Cup Trophy that I bought new in 1997 came with a Checkered metal housing. The Trophys were still coming with the checkered metal until recently I saw one with a serrated plastic housing again. I would bet that the new ones are again coming with the plastic ones.

My gold cup has a checkered metal mainspring,my best friends seems to be the nylon serrated type! I noticed that brownells has colt oem metal checkered mainspring housings available! :D

I just bought one ...but got to tell you I know its serrated but never bothered to see if its metal or nylon. I guess I'm not that anal about it.
