This is my GCT, it just passed 10,000 rounds. For some of you Old Timers (read Hunter...) I am sure that is just getting started. :D It has been a straight shooter since day one. The folks down at Novaks just made it a bit tighter when they did their 'carry package'. The thing I really like about this gun is that the bullet goes precisely where I place the front sight, every time.

I really do have to fire the guy who cleaned it the last time ;) Here are some pics. Since I had a request, I have also posted some pictures of the sights.

I'll post a target from my next outing.

Hi

Nice pistol.

Is that the original beavertail?

Bob I dont mean to speak out of turn but the beavertail in the photo is not the original. Colt still places the duckbill on the GCT. It does look good though doesnt it.

Hi

I was kinda wondering if they had done a batch with another style and I had simply missed that fact

She still looks great!

I work with a guy that says he has put over 75,000 thru his Glock. I have a Gunsite Pistol and a Special Combat Government that I will do my level best to wear out. I have some catching up to do to match even your 10,000! But I'll try!

Hi

One trip to the range a day, two trips a day on weekends, that's nine trips a week. Ten shots a minute for an hour. Comes to 600 rounds a trip. You'll do 5,400 rounds a week. Two weeks and you break 10,000 rounds.

What could be simpler :D :D :D :D :D :D

Let's see, at $30 a hundred, 10,800 rounds comes to $3,240. That's a $6,480 a month shooting habit if you keep it up. Not counting range fees, gas money, and the divorce of course ....

Gotta love that! Fine looking Pistol. Did your GCT come with the Bomar sights? And if so, who did the conversion to night sights? I'm thinking of doing the same to my SCGM. Is it difficult to get used to the line/insert on the rear sight?

By the way, what does Novak carry package consist of?

Atreides I wish I would of kept better track of how many rounds I have put through my GCT but I imagine I am in the 10000+ neighborhood and so far all that has begun to show wear (other than the finish) is a few recoil springs and the first set of magazine springs. I can say that the vast majority of the rounds I have put through the Colt were 185gr and 200gr LSWC with 230gr FMJ a second. To date she has not failed me but this thread reminds me I am past due on recoil spring replacement.
Tommy the later stainless Gold Cup Trophy's came factory with Bo-mar rear sights while the earlier stainless and blued GCT came with Elliason rears.

You guys are right, the beavertail is not original.

Yes it came with Bomar rear sights. From the factory the gun had all black sights.

Novaks installed the nightsights. I rarely even notice the bar on the rear sight now. I noticed it was different than the low mount Novaks nightsights on my other handguns, but very similar to Heinie Straight Eights.

If you really want the 3 dot sights, Bud's (http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/products_id/31956) has a set to fit your SCG.

The Novaks carry package consists of the following:
Novak's Night Sights System
Carry Bevel Package
Extended Grip Safety
Extended Thumb Safety
Trigger Job
N.M. Bushing
Videki Trigger
Refinish ( bead blast & blue)
Reliability Package
Bevel Magazine Well

Wait time was about 5 months.

Thx to everyone who stopped by.
