[Hello],
I need your help. I am traveling and cannot get logged on to anything that will tell me manufacture dates or where a M1911 went. I have found a 1911 with a Navy slide that has a S/N: 4634XX. Can this be an original Navy? Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Michael

Too high for a Navy marked pistol.

This is the link to the dealer who has it for sale. Below is the dealers write up. /Ken

Colt slide marked Model of 1911 U.S. Navy on right hand side has about 85% blue. Frame is marked U.S. Property on left side and has serial number of No4634xx. Frame is more of a grey color with maybe 40% coverage. Has two tone magazine and well worn double diamond checkered walnut grips.

The last 500 Navy marked Colts were:

109501-110000

The were the so called "Militia Navys".

How would the finish on that 1911 be descibed, a brushed parkerized, brushed blue?

Brushed Blue. Not really pretty, but there.
