A little history here. I traded a Kahr for a "Federal" 1911 +$100. I was looking for a "shooter". I ended up with a parts gun that has a Colt Combat Elite slide, a Federal Ordnance frame and parts that I coudn't ID. I ended up noticing some markings on the barrel an "HS" on one side and a "P" on the other. I Googled it (when in doubt Google it, you'd be surprised the info you can find.....) and I found out it's a High Standard WWII barrel! I also have a mag that I have also tentativly id'd as a WWII as well ("CS" on the base and an "S" on the top of the "lip" of the mag). I also checked for pics on the mainspring housing, slide stop, thumb safety, grip safety, hammer and all of these parts seem to correspond to a late war Remington Rand pistol. If I'm right it looks like I may have made out with my trade! If I'm right about all of the parts all I need to find is a better frame (I know Federal Ordnance has questionable QC) and mabe a period slide and I'll have a really nice workable pistol. Parts gun? Mabe the parts were what made the trade worth it!

I have included pics of the pistol. If some one could verify or debunk me, I'd appreciate it. If other pics are needed, I'd be happy to take em.

Thank you so much and I really love this site!

Looks like a good shooter. I probably wouldn't classify it as a USGI parts gun based on the barrel, magazine and small parts, but...
I think you're right about the small parts coming from a late WWII Remington Rand, but I can't see all the details of all the parts to verify. The mag is a late WWII Colt contract mag. Someone has added the additional markings on the base.

I'd probably use the pistol as a shooter, rather than to try to build a USGI from these parts. I think it's almost always less expensive to buy a "correct" USGI opposed to buying one a piece at a time.

First thing I'd do is safety check the pistol, then provided it's okay, head out to the range and burn up some ammo. See what she'll do. That will determine if it was a good trade. Good luck.

I haven't had the chance to shoot it yet but this week I'll allocate time to try it. About the only part I really feel I may want to change is the frame as I've heard nothing good about Federal Ordnance parts and I don't want the gun to fall apart while shooting it!
