Hi, I'm new here so be gentle please. I obtained a Colt slide that is marked 'Ultimate Commando Edition' on the right of the slide and 'Colt Commando Series' on the left. The slide is blue and about 6 1/4" at it's longest ends. T  he barrel bushing appears (is) larger than my Gov't models. The lower shroud of the recoil spring guide housing (lacking proper nomenclature) has a notch machined in. The slide is series 80 but I have no idea what barrel, bushing, etc. go with it. I have searched the web (and the forums here) far and wide. Anyone know anything about this thing? I couldn't resist buying it for a build-a-gun adventure. Help!

Sounds like it is the same size and design as the Officer's ACP slide.

Stans, Thanks. My ignorance showing here, but I thought the Officers model had a bushingless bull/flared barrel set up. It looks like it has lugs inside the business end of the slide for a bushing. Also, the breach face to the end of the slide is about 3 1/4 inches. Does tha sound right for an Officers model barrel? Thanks again.

Yep, Thats it. I was able to find the parts (sans barrel) at todays gun show. I searched every site I could find to see what this 'Commando' was, Nada. I'm at the show today for the parts and the guy I'm dealing with pulls out the same gun in stainless. He hasn't seen another either and when he bought it he thought he bought a 'CommandER'. My karma must be good today. Thanks for all the help and the pics.

I just bought a lightweight stainless commando too (90% practically unfired: $850). My first 1911. I can't find much info on them at all. Only they were a limited production run, 3.5 barrel, officers slide, with full size grip. If anyone knows where we can get more info on these that would help. Dates of production, ect. my ser. LCC1XX. Seams limited or at least mine is low. I wouldn't sell it for 2k :) , but I am curious.

Aha! Before I got to this post I was wondering if that's what it might be. Sort of the inverse of the "Tank Officers" model, which has a Commander slide and barrel mated to the shorter Officers grip and 6-round magazine.

Info I picked up a E Gunparts. "I don't know if there actually was a "series", but they at least mfgd. the Ultimate Commando with the UCC S/N prefix. Supposedly a run of 250, in 1997, for Bangers (ME?). Officers slide & .bbl on Commander frame. Ultimate refers to the polished finishes. Last $$ I saw was in Gun List @ $1,395.00" I don't know who posted this or how accurate the information is.

Here is my Commando. The right side roll mark is "Lightweight Commando Edition" and Left mark "Colt Commando Series" Sn LCCXXX. Any info to help me date and number would be appreciated. Is there a difference between Commander frame and full size frame?

Fiasco:
That's defintely a neat looking pistol! That particular grip safety & the nylon trigger are personal favorites. :D

Here's a pciture of the slide I have. I was going to put it on my full size frame (the one I don't have anymore) Apparently that was Colt's idea first huh? Would be good for CCW in the pants especially. Maybe I'll sell the slide and buy the Kimber Compact I've been eyeing. Somebody said only 250 made. How many Blue ones I wonder?

I guess it would really be this one, a Pit Bull. The prior one is on a Commander size frame I believe. This ones cool. (Groovy?)
