I picked up an Ed Brown Special Forces, my first "upper end" 1911. I probably won't be able to get to the range for a few days but am really looking forward to it. The pistol was displayed with VZ G10 grips and I opted to keep these instead of the standard wood grips.
Just a couple of quick snapshots:

Congratulations on a nice purchase! I have the Special Forces in a Commander with the Bobtail, I just love mine. I have also been thinking about a different set of grips, but I just can't make up my mind. Currently mine is sporting some Esmeralda Wooden Grips.
Let us know how those grips work for you. I believe they also come in black.

I had time for just a quick trip to the range Friday afternoon -- 50 rounds of hardball. No malfunctions. Very smooth. The trigger was fantastic, no creep or over travel, and was very crisp. It was almost, but not quite, too light for a defense weapon. The VZ grips gave a very positive grip surface.
I was just starting break-in and checking for functionality. I shot only rapid fire at 15 yards. Below is one of the home made targets. I'm not a great shot and the ammo was Remington green box, so I'm sure the pistol is much more accurate than I will ever be. It was sighted for a dead-on hold. At any rate, I was impressed!

Great gun. Mine's a Commander with a regular grip and stock rosewood grips. I love it and it is right on with no malfunctions.

Fantastic lookin' gun you have there! Out of curiosity, did the pistol come with the two 7-rounders, or did it only come with one? (I ask because all other Brown guns I've seen have only had one.)

Thanks! The pistol came with one mag. I bought the other from the dealer who keeps a small stock. According to the Ed Brown website, he tunes the pistols to work with his mags. I'm sure other quality mags would work as well, but I think I'm going to stick with Ed Brown mags for this pistol.

Very nice Special Forces! I like the look with the white G-10's. G-10's are my favorite grips at the moment.
...I think I'm going to stick with Ed Brown mags for this pistol....
Although my EB mags have always ran well, I have had a blowout of the welded base plate. Bullets fell to the floor and it took a minute to find the spring. I have also read of this happening to others. Still a good magazine in other aspects, I use mine for carry in my Kobra Carry, just be sure to inspect the welds occasionally.
Enjoy
Edit to add: Ed Brown swapped me with a new magazine immediately, with no questions asked and no charge.

Same problem happened to me....it was the only EB mag I had.
I have used various other mags with mine since...no problems with any of them in my full-sized Kobra.
Nice looking pistol...shoot it well...and often!

Thanks for the heads up on the welds. I will keep an eye on them.
