Hi,

There is a series 70 full size for sale on another site and it looks real good. The price is $695 and the seller says it is 1979 vintage. Does this have the feed ramp that only take hardball?

Is $695 a fair price for one in 93-95% condition. It looks to have some blue wear from holstering but that's it.

This one will probably not last long so I am hoping for a quick response.

Hope you guys stay up LATE!

I believe that is a real good price on that pistol (assuming there has been no kitchen table gunsmithing done on the innards).
That is a good looking Colt.

Because it's in such good condition, i'd go for it (particularly because i like "vintage" 70's). Keep in mind you can get a 70's repro for around $700 (IIRC). Personally i'd much prefer to have the original over the repro.
I think the "ramp" you're refering to is in the barrel. The new scalloped (i know..i know..wrong term) barrel was not in the 1979 Colts AFAIK. I wouldn't worry too much about it's ability to feed defensive/target ammo though....i'm sure it will.
Good luck! Let us know if you get it!!

The MSRP, as quoted from a major distributor to my dealer, is $919.00 for blue steel NIB. I have seen them discounted on the Internet for $809.00 - $859.00 (plus shipping, and state tax if applicable). You may be able to get one for less if you shop around at gun shows, pawn shops, and local dealers, but it probably won't be NIB and who knows what has been done to it at the "kitchen table". I personally don't have the time to shop around so I will pick up mine (NIB) today from the gun store/indoor range where my wife works and I teach (<$$). Thanks to 1911Tuner and Hunter for the gentle shove back to a basic 1911 even if it is a reproduction.

I'd go for it in an instant. She looks extremely nice. Original over repro any day, condition of the vintage piece permitting. This one looks great. I'd jump! _Paul

well the gun sold last night. I was not even able to get a few questions answered from the seller before it was sold.

It is an O.K. price. If you love it then go for it.

And a lot of guns (not only Colts or 1911s) sell quickly. I have found this out several times. A couple of times there was a good ending with me finding a better gun for less later.

Sorry to hear ya missed it. I would also have to agree with eli, I'd rather have the original than the repo. If that's what you want , they are out there, keep your eyes open and be ready!

Well I am glad I did not "go for it". To many bad purchases happen that way.

I have one in about the same shape that I paid 700 for. I don't feel bad about it at all, new recoil spring and it hasn't missed a beat. I believe that the best you can do on a series 70 repro is closer to 800 then 700. Maybe another will show up, or an even better deal! :)

What I meant was I had no info on the gun except the picture and that it was 1979 vintage.

I thought i might have been a little "off" on that one Jeff ;). That makes the price on this gun even better :D!

Coulbrid, Sorry you couldn't grab it. Wasn't meant to be ;). Another one will come along shortly i'm sure!
