I took the SCG to the range today. I fired 250+ rounds of Remington UMC 230 grain hardball ammo, as well as a mag each of 230 grain federal Hydra-Shok & 185 grain +p Hydra-Shok. The pistol functioned flawlessly with each type of ammo. Here is a group using ball ammo shot from 25 yards while standing.

The SCG attracts other shooters at the range - they all want to know what it is, and how much it was. It's almost like having a new puppy... :lm:

I see you changed the stocks, the pistol, of course, is beautiful. Man, that's some fine shooting you did there, no bag or rest at 25 yards!

Man that is a beautiful Colt SCG and excellent shooting as well.
Those stocks are a nice touch with the Colt medallion.

Thanks guys, the stocks came from CDNN. I love that prancing pony medallion, it sure dresses up an already great looking gun.
It was a 2 handed hold while standing at 25 yards while shooting that group though - I haven't got the one handed thing down yet.

Well, I hope you get a hard chrome SCG of your very own, they are a sight to behold. It's funny but now I kinda have a hankerin' for one of the two tone models.......coltitis ;)

They are nice. I did this before I sighted mine in at 22 yards with 6 rounds. Sort of causual bullseye. I thought I did 2 seconds between rounds, but friends said I did all six in about 3 seconds. Again this is a 50 yard gun.

Oh yes, on another forum I called this a 50 yard gun (pistol would be better) and somebody wanted to know what that means. Well to me:
In the old days I used to either pick "store bought" ammo or decide on the best bullets and amount of what powder when I rolled my own at 25 yards for .45 ACP on my Gold Cups and 38 Special wadcutters on my S&W 52. As we all know .22 cal is what it is and for my S&W 41 I found a good brand and lot number and then bought all of that lot number I could.
Some guns, when you locked them in your Ransom Rest, or sandbagged them, made a ragged hole with most ammo at 25 yards. This was great, but you could not figure out what was the best store bought ammo or the best bullet and grains of powder to put in for a reload until you went out further.
This was important because when you stood on your two hind feet and shot with only one hand at 25 yards you wanted to be sure the gun and ammo was as good to 100% as you could make it.
Also, in the old days the shooting ranges had stops for 25, 50, 100, etc. yards, so if you could not do what you wanted at 25, you went to 50. Hence the term, "50 yard gun".
I agree the SCG is somewhat rare and I would buy another one if it looks good, because this one is that good.
