I saw a nib Charles Daly 1911 at a show recently. The price was $499. It looked like a RIA Tactical but had the Daly marked slide. Blue. I believe it was made during the Armscor partnership. Any reason to avoid it?

No reason at all. I have one and no more problems than any other weapon.

As being said by many and to my knowledge, CD's, RIAS, STI Spartan, and Medallion names are made by Armscor, or I may say, the major parts components like the Slide and Receiver are all Armscor manufactured. Correct me if I'm wrong.

CD 1911 pistols always were made by Armscor, still are. No problems with mine over the years.

Thank you Manan in affirming my allegations.

What I can say with Armscor products, they are range tested guns. Their durability can be compared to guns having famous trademarks. I have no remorse in having purchased 5 units as my guns. But being a Filipino having still that mental coloniality, the USA made still has that effects in our mind and we still revere and purchased Colt, Springfield and smith & wesson products, be it in revolver or semi autos.

You know the quality if the Colt is obviously higher than the Armscor stuff. You can see it on the inside when you take them apart to clean them. I have both. But my daily carry is my Daly Officers. It's not an expensive gun and I don't abuse it, but it does get banged around alot. I wear IWB holsters, and most days a shoulder holster. Getting in and out of the car and just moving about my life, it's the reality of a conceal carry weapon.

I will tell you that I was shooting at a range that I frequent and there was the guy with the $3,000 S&W 5 inch competition 1911. His trigger pull was probably around one pound. You know the guy. Wears the patches on his shirt, fancy bag, special glasses, glove, the works. Every range has one.

I had a tighter group at 25 yards the first round. He made the comment that he'd have to get serious. I had tighter groups and scored higher on the next 3 targets (Full silhouette) with my little old Charles Daly Officers. He literally got mad, loaded his bag and left without saying a word. The other guys we were shooting with just kept quiet till he was gone, then busted out laughing.

Hehehe!!! that was a good story. That is why I am already contented with my Armscors, Shooters, and my M1991-A1 (Old roll Mark). I am getting older so I am getting wiser.

Manan, thanks for that story. I have been shooting various 1911 type pistols since about 1973, mostly GI or carry models, nothing fancy.
My current older bought used Daly is the most accurate 1911 I have ever owned.
I also have a Daly Officer's Model that I have been carrying since the first time I took it to the range. It is very accurate for a small size pistol, extremely reliable, and rugged enough to endure daily carry use. It is small enough to be easily carried and concealed, but powerful enough to give me comfort.
I have had a few diferent Daly and RIA Armscor 1911 pistols, and have never had reliability problems with any of them.
If anyone is looking for a carry pistol, you could do a lot worse for a lot more money.
