Did colt make a Lightweight government model MKIV in 3.5 barrel length? I thought all government models were fullsize. Serial is FL0 and ends with E

"Government models" are full-size pistols with 5" barrels. A Colt Mark IV with a 3-1/2" barrel is an Officers ACP model. Most were steel framed, but I believe they did make a lightweight Officers for a short time.
Does it actually SAY "Government model" on it somewhere?

a friend told me of this one forsale and he says it reads "lightweight government model on the right side with MKIV on the left. He says is has the 3.5 inch barrel.
Is he off his rocker?

I think he is confused. It should say on the left
"Colt Mk IV"
-series 80-
and on the right
"Lightweight Officer's ACP"

That's a Lightweight "Enhanced" model... Definitely not 3.5! That's a full-sized Colt.
Good luck with your purchase!

Definitely appears to be a full-size. With an Officers ACP model (3-1/2" barrel) the slide barely extends beyond the front of the frame.
I can't help you regarding a lightweight Government model. I haven't seen one but that doesn't mean they don't exist.

Made a deal on the multi-suspect labeled gun late this afternoon. Store says I have 30 days to return it for a full refund. Sounded pretty good to me. If it is what they tell me over the phone it will be worth it. It is due to ship out on Monday. I am still a little afraid of what might show up. Their ad read Colt MK IV series 80 lightweight government model with 3.5 barrel. As I previously stated it is supposed to be a MK IV series 80 lightweight commander model, enhanced.

Quick -- buy it before Wichaka reads this thread. He has a "thing" for lightweight Commanders.

Ahem ... truth is, I sat on the prescription ones, so I've been using a pair of drug store generic reading glasses ...
I guess it shows, eh?

Might have been funnier if it took 1911 posts...
