View Full Version : Is this a decent price for a 1991 (01991)?

Hi,

Is $715 shipped a decent price for a NIB Colt 1991, model 01991. It has the NRM and is blued.

This is NOT the M1991A1 but is rather the newer "Government Model."

Is one of the above "better" then the other? Are there any significant differences?

Thanks,

Mike

I bought one two weeks ago for a little less than that. But you said shipping was included, And if you don't have to pay taxes on an out of state deal, your doing good. If you have to pay a transfer fee, you have to take that into consideration as well.
When you consider it's new, and the price of some of the used Colt's out there, I'd say you'll be happy.

I would think that is a fair price for a fine pistol.

Agreed. Fair price.
As to your other question, the only difference between the ORM's and NRM's is the appearance...finish (parkerized vs. blue) and rollmarks (large ORM on port side vs. small NRM on port side).
Hope to see some pics soon!

Ok. I guess it is a fair price, $690 + $25 shipping = $715.

Anyone know where I can find a better price? I have searched around a lot and this is the best I can find.

I'm getting ready to make the deal, but, after buying, I hate seeing a better deal somewhere else and doing the ol' Homer Simpson, "Doh."

Thanks,

Mike

You might find a better price somewhere, but the price you have is a good one.

Fair and decent price for a NRM 1991A1

Oh boy,

Here comes the confusion...

Ri4509 says it's a fair and decent price for a "NRM 1991A1."

I thought this pistol was called a 1991 Government Model, which is different from the 1991A1, which only came with the ORM.

Did (do) some 1991A1s come with the NRM?

NO CONFUSSION! This pistol is called the 1991 Government Model. They only come in NRM. The "A1" comes only in ORM.
That price is right on the money (pun intended ;)). I searched gunbroker...the cheapest i found was a "BUY NOW" for $699 (then you'd have to pay shipping and FFL). You could try bidding on this one...reserve hasn't been met, at $500. Most likely it will get up close to the range you're looking at, but maybe worth trying...only 24 hours left on it anyway. Why not throw a bid of $550 or $600 at it, and see what happens?

Good luck!

Geez Ric4509,

I wasn't being critical. You just confused me a bit with this statement:

Fair and decent price for a NRM 1991A1

And I sought some clarification, which I received.

NO CONFUSSION! This pistol is called the 1991 Government Model. They only come in NRM. The "A1" comes only in ORM.

Then you come back with this statement:

Mikem -

AKA 1991 Series -
01991 gov't blued
01091 gov't SS

Eli answered and clarified your question.

What's your point here?

I don't think there is any "AKA" when it comes to the 1991A1s you mentioned and the 1991 Government Model (NRM) we are discussing here.

Yes, they are both Series 80 but from what I have learned there are differences, the most obvious being those roll marks.

You said, "Fair and decent price for a NRM 1991A1."

From what I have read (and there is a considerable amount of reading involved) I don't think there is any such pistol as a NRM 1991A1.

And if there are such pistols, they are crossovers and there are very, very few of them. No one seems sure if they really exist.

Simply put, the 1991 Government Model we are discussing is NOT a 1991A as you stated it was.

So you made a little mistake. No big deal. I blame Colt for this confusion.

Congrats on your purchase Mike. We'll look forward to seeing some pics!
I just wanted to add that i think you may have misinterpreted Ric4509's post. He was just trying to provide some additional clarification. I can't really speak for anyone, but i know him to be helpful, and i seriously doubt that he intended that post to be condescending. Often you'll find that duplicate (or what may be perceived as redundant) information is posted; this has to due with the nature of the forum's system. Many times i haven't noticed that there are additional posts beyond the page i'm currently viewing and will accidently reply to the bottom post on page "1" only to find that it has been aswered already at the top of page "2".
BTW, when he said "AKA", i believe he meant "also known as".
Anyhow, congrats again on your COLT! If you're like me you'll find it impossible to stop at just one ;).
