Hey guys, I have a gun show coming into town this weekend, and if I'm able to track down an RIA Tactical for a decent price, I'll be happily joining the family. There is a slight problem though. I've heard plenty of stories of people being sold lemons at these shows, and I'm not sure I know enough to keep myself from becoming yet another victim :o . I'll be able to check out the obvious things (cracks, deformities, burs, rust, etc), but if somebody could give me some advice on key components I need to pay special attention to, I would very much appreciate it.

In so far as the RIA Tactical, you would be best sticking with a new gun purchase. You are not going to save enough on a used RIA to make it a worthwhile deal. Why buy what may have been someone else's problem for a meager savings.

Check out if there is any damage, or signs that it was used, With the dealers permission, check the safety features to assure that the grip and thumb safetys are functioning. Cock the hammer and with the thumb safety on, pull the trigger. With the hammer cocked and your hand off of the grip safety, pull the trigger to see if the grip safety is operating. If you or the dealer have dummy rounds, run them through. Rack the slide on an empty mag and see if the slide locks back. Remove the mag and slowly release the slide into battery. If it functions without a problem and you get the price down by haggling, buy it. However the true test will be firing it on a range. At that point Armscor RIA's good customer service comes into play. Good Luck!
