View Full Version : Got it bad...

Well I went and dropped off my new Model O1991 at Colt yesterday for custom work, thought that would feed the fever. Then today I stopped by the toy store and there was a used Special Combat Government Model that wouldn't let me loose. It's just like the one I have, two-tone, .45. The Coltitis kicked in and I had to put it on layaway. I guess I needed another winter project! But I do hope I get over this soon.

So true!

A traffic jam sent me home a different route today and I popped into my favorite store to check their consignment shelves. I spied a very nice (used/not abused) blued Colt Officers model w/Novak sights, Wilson-like three hole trigger, drop in beavertail (decent fit for a drop in), and three (maybe four) magazines. Asking price was $450.

I walked, but I might stop back tomorrow as she's been calling to me all afternoon...

What I've learned is buy it when you see it... because she might not be there tomorrow. Then you feel twice as bad. I've had that happen a couple of times. Would'a, could'a, should'a is a real bummer. It's hard to come by a nice pistol with quality features, especially around $400. I say feed the fever!

Don't go spending my money, lol!

The Officers model just doesn't do it for me (I passed a few weeks back on a 1-of-250 Colt Commando model for cheap). I'm saving my pennies for an older 38super combat commander and/or a Colt Woodsman.

I just have to work on my patience (and timing)...

I need to spend someone elses money, I've run out of mine!
Well you'll know when you find what you really want... happy hunting and working on your patience.

A bi tone Special Combat Government in .45 Automatic? Nice choice!
When can you get some pictures up? I was really impressed with the Special Combat Government that I tested (though I did buy it sight unseen I have no regrets).

There are a few more on GB....;)! Let's spend your money :D! (i certainly don't have any of my own ;)!)

I'm working on the same thing.... It's very easy to "jump" every time a reasonbly priced gun shows up, but like my dad used to say, "the same train stops at the station every 15 minutes". If it's a genuinely "good buy" then you know it, and that's when you jump....otherwise, another "reasonably priced" one will show up again, just around the corner.

Resistance is futile. ;)

I have a pic of my SCGM and Delta Elite posted in Show your Colt's, #675.
As soon as I get this one out of layaway I'll add to my two tone collection and update the picture... hopefully improve the quality as well.

My gun diet plan is to not buy another gun until I shot the last one I bought at least a few hundred times, unless it is a 458 or other big bore rifle; then maybe 20 times.

A diet plan, now that's a great idea... Colt's Anonymous or Colt's Watchers that might be what I need!

It never ends!

After 30 years, I thought I had enough Colt 1911s, so I bought a Colt Single
Action Army. It's started all over again. I now have six and looking for
number seven.

I hear about Pythons, Anacondas and Troopers.

It will never end!

Sure hope I get cured before I get Colt revolveritis...

But after 30 years you must have a fine collection.
