I was at a show this morning and found this Colt series 80 lightweight commander,http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd174/predspics/Coltlightweightcommander1.jpg The guy was asking 599.99. I gave it a good looking over and I dont know too much, Bit I did notice that it had trijican night sights on it, and a set of Hogue grips on it, I didnt think that they were stock,,, Also ser. # is FL1033x If that helps at all.
I offered him 450 after a good while, he made some faces and said Okay,,
Well now,, I wonder what else has been done to this commander??
Can anyone here tell from the pics if something isn't stock?
And please post your findings,
I do notice that the trigger has had some work, It is nothing like the other colts I have or the other 1911s,, It is light, crisp, and makes me happy!
Thank you for any ipmut, It is appreciated!!
Peter.

So far from the pic, just the grip safety, sights, and grips. Unknown what's been done under the hood.

If it hasn't been tinkered with too much more than wichaka says, it's probably a good buy for you.

Also, possibly the MSH. What year was this gun produced? It has the short trigger...don't those usually have an arched MSH?

According to Fjestad they were made from '83 to '97. Mine was made later than yours and has an arched MSH. Picture is at post 2504 of the "pictures thread". Best way is to call Colt Customer Service tomorrow - they will tell you year of manuf.

definitely call Colt for info, they can give you an approximate date of manufacture. :)

Changed: Front site. Rear site. Grips. Grip screws. Grip safety. Probably mainspring housing. It looks like it may have a flgr install also. I also think the hammer is not original either. With no surprises inside $450 is a good price unless you get all the original pieces that came off in a box, then maybe $500.
