I wanna pick up a RIA compact folks. Darn that RIA bug! It's biting hard. LMAO!
I know I mentioned in another thread that I didn't want one, but the whole idea of having the three different sizes is SOOOOOO appealing. Can't wait for the commander size to come out.
When I mentioned it to my wife and she said she is going to claim one of them as hers. LOL.
Where do you guys suggest I pick one up for a good price. I saw them on SARCO's site, but was just curious if there is another dealer with competetive prices. Thanks and most appreciated.

Check this site. http://sportingarms.com/index.asp they are in Lewisville and have excellent customer service. Ask for Becky. Some of my friends got RIA's from them. Not sure though if they have the CS model. I am sure you are aware that the 3 inch barrel 1911 are not as much fun to shoot compared to their longer counterparts. For me the commander size ( 4" or so) is better, just my .02 cents. I have a colt compact you are welcome to try. They are the exact same size as the RIA CS.
Good Luck!

What's not so fun about the compact Rey? The recoil? How the pistol feels? Let me know. Thanks!!!

Felt recoil is harsh compared to the full size and that is expected. I can handle it and I am sure you very well can. The only reason I mentioned it is I find the 1911 a smooth soft shooting 45 acp in full size. The compact model ( 3" barrel) is not as soft a shooter.Bring some ammo and let's go shooting one time and you can shoot my colt 1991A1 compact as much as you like and you be the judge. I shoot at Target Master just off 635 and Jupiter. I won't be available this week all through the weekend but sometime mid next week will be fine. Just p.m. me and I will give you my cell #.

I have Colts and a RIA in 5", Para in 4.25 and a Colt Defender 3" @ 22.5 ozs, Personally I do not find the recoil to be excessive on the 3" and I find them all fun to shoot. In fact the 3" is very accurate, even in double or triple taps, which amazed me when I first shot it.

Only one way to find out:)
I checked with Sporting Arms out in Lewisville and they have some RIA compact tacticals. Do those have the dovetail sights or G.I. sights?
If I still decide on getting a RIA compact, would it be cheaper for me to switch out the grip safety and hammer myself?

From what I've heard there is a batch of RIA CS coming out w/ the features of the Tactical Model. I remember reading that in one of the threads here.If that is the case it comes w/ dovetail sights,BT safety. Otherwise, I believe they are equipped like the milspec..g.i. sights. Again, if I am wrong somebody please correct me.

All's I can tell ya is this is how mine came from Sarco, and I love it! I really need to spend some quality time with it and my GI at a range, side by side, but at this point I'd have to say the Compact is more fun to shoot. I think the recoil is less, and it's more accurate, or at least as accurate as the 5".
The sights bite, and it could probably use a mild trigger job, but otherwise it's perfect for me! These pics don't show the nice crown on the barrel either.

MMMMM....that looks good no doubt. I want one for my carry around town. Who knows, my wife might adopt it. That's ok. Two 1911s in the vehicles sounds good to me anyways.
