I have a 1911A1 US Army .45. If I need to replace anything, would I use "Government model" or just "1911A1". I know there are Commander, series 70,80,90 models. I just need to know what to use to make sure I am getting the right part. ( sorry I don't have a photo yet)

Welcome to the forum.
The parts would be for series 70 or Gov't model, not Commander, Officers, series 80 or 90.
Getting correct parts for your gun may require a bit more effort than some others, but it'll be well worth it.

You'll need to provide specific information, including photos, to get the help you need. There are a lot of variations in parts, just as there are with the military M1911 and M1911A1 pistols.
The reason you should plan to provide photos is to allow us to help you make good decisions regarding your parts purchases. For example, if you have a pistol that is mis-matched or refiished, you may want to take that into consideration before you go spending much money on parts which will not increase it's value. In cases like that, new parts typically only increase the cost you have in the pistol and provide no real return on your investment.

Thanks for the good information. The pistol was my fathers, he got it through the NRA and shot it in pistol matches. It is good condition and I shoot it now and then. So I will log this info in case I need it.
