I am not sure if this should be posted here or in the conversion forum but it says only conversion kits there, so I think this is the right place to post this, right?

Anyways, I would like to know all the parts needed to convert a .45 1911 to 9mm and who makes them. I am thinking I need a new recoil spring, barrel, clip and I am not sure about the slide.

Thanks

For .45 to 9 you need a slide as well, in fact you need an entire "top end" magazine(s) and ejector.

You'd be much better off to start with a Super .38.

What is involved in converting a Super 38 to 9MM?

I the case of my Colt, a barrel, a magazine and professional help... ;)

You can probably find my escapades in a search...

Many say Super 38 magazines will even work, but I haven't tried.

YMMV.

It appears to me that the radius on the (frames) feed ramp is not the same between 9mm/Super 38 and 45. Whether this would cause any issues, I don't know.

This appears to be a growing trend

45 ACP to 9mm

Complete slide (with extractor etc), barrel (complete, link and pin and bushing), ejector, magazines and recoil springs.

38 Super to 9mm

Barrel and magazines. Recoil springs maybe.

Start out with a .38 Super, install a 9mm Barrel, new spring, extractor and magazine(s)

THEN get a new slide in 45 with all the extra parts and you have an easy 3-caliber gun. This was what was outline in an American Handgunner magazine back in 1984.

I followed the instructions and have had a working, 3-calber gun ever since, mainly used in 9mm, shooting quite a bit competition....
