Removing ambi safety from Charles Daly

Is there any special trick to these pistols or am I just doing it wrong? I have read several posts on this as well as viewing the disassembly video and checking in my generic 1911 book, and it's not working out.
Anything special ?

GOT IT!

So easy, after all the trouble I thought it would be. Came right out using a vise grip on the left side, safety positioned about half - on. Stripped out the entire frame, cleaned some very hard sticky stuff out of the trigger channel...now smooth and shiney.
Ordered a spring kit, solid non-adjustable trigger, new sear pin and single
thumb safety from Sarco.
Cleaning everything up, see how this works when its back together.
