Trying to determine what year my newest Colt was manufactured in. It is a Colt Combat Commander (Series 70). Ser # is 70BS80886. Please contact me if you can help with this info or know where I might be able to look this up.

There aren't any public records for this era, your best bet is to give Colt a call. They should be able to tell you.

Just guessing, but, COLT'S DATES OF MANUFACTURE by R.L.Wilson shows the first serial number for 1978 as 70BS69000 (no listings after that in this book). Assuming that the numbers changed for the series 80 models, I would think your pistol was manufactured in 1979 or possibly 1980 if they continued to make any series 70 models in 1980.
Call COLT to be sure. :)

Here's (http://www.proofhouse.com/colt/ccom.htm) the best online Commander serial number listing that I've found. This site goes down fairly often though, so you may want to save the page.
