The 2007 IDPA National Championship is over now. Interesting to note that not one of the top 3 CDP Master shooters used a 1911. They all used plastic guns (XD, GLock, & M&P).

David Olhasso - is mainly known as a Beretta shooter what was he shooting?
Dave Sevigny - sponsored by Glock
Ernest Langdon - employed by S&W, and a big part of the M&P program.

While I hate to see CDP (once the domain of the 1911) go this direction, this is an example of the old saying "it is the technician, not the tool". These guys would have placed this well regardless of the gun. Ernest Langdon has done it with Berettas, Sigs, and now M&Ps.

True, if you're good you're good and if not you're unheard of. Shooting a really good firearm can help some people to shoot a little better but these guys are really excellent at what they do. They'd do well with any competent firearm.

The firearms they used have single action type trigger pulls to them as well.........

While that may be true based in individual opinions, the powers that be in IDPA seem to feel otherwise. The glock has always been ruled a double action type pistol and the XD as a single action. I don't believe that there was a ruling on the M&P's trigger yet, but I my knowledge may be out of date.

M&P is a D/A gun. At the highest level it is the shooter not the gun. Consider Todd Jarrett (Para), nor Rob Leatham (Springfield) were competing this year tells you more than worrying about what pistol they shoot. Unless of course you are a typical consumer who goes out and buys a Chevy 'cause Bubba Octane just won the latest NASCAR race with a Chev.
