Can anyone tell me where I can read about designing the 1911 to reliably and accurately shoot 9mm? I see a number of companies offer 1911 in 9mm but I want to know what it takes to make a 1911 9mm in terms of slide/barrel mass, slide travel, lock-up vs various 9mm rounds, recoil springs and any other considerations that must be taken into account for a weapon that was orgininally designed around the .45 ACP.

I am trying to wrap my head around Glocks and CZs, weapons where .45 ACP is/was a secondary consideration versus 1911's where 9mm is a secondary consideration.

Also, besides the dimunitive Springfield EMP,is there a 1911 that is designed around the 9mm? Seems like everything could be made a bit smaller (thinner).

Thanks,
