My EGW firing pin stop should be coming in the mail soon. What will i need to expect to do when installing it, as far as fitting it? I have a Kimber Custom II, and i ordered the series 80 one. Do i use sand paper to file it down to fit? i read some stories where it was too tall, and they needed to trim it down. Thanks and sorry i am a newb

There is a sticky in the gunsmith section that will tell you everything you need to know. It even has pictures. Its the one that starts with "Amazing reduction in recoil...", or something to that effect.

You'll actually be using a file to put a radius on the bottom edge of the FPS. Please don't take my word for it though ;)....that's just my understanding. Here's the link:

Yes, page 1 on the link mentioned above will show you pictures of how to stone or file the radius at the bottom of the stop. On my Custom II, I had to stone a bit off the sides, mostly towards the top to get the FPS to go all the way up into the slide. You want to keep the right side as true to vertical as possible because the extractor groove keys on that side.
If you plan on doing any type of work to your new 1911, I would suggest volumes 1 and 2 of Jerry Kuhnhausen's books for the 1911. They can be purchased online from Midway, etc. These books have ordnance type drawings and show you exactly how to fit parts, check parts for fit and function, etc. Well worth the money. If you order them quick enough, maybe they will arrive at the same time as your new FPS.

Some type of knife sharpening stone should be fine. I have an ultra fine stone that I use to polish at the end but I wouldn't know where you could get one at...

Just tape 400 grit to a piece of glass - easy to keep edges square.
