I have a polished stainless finish on my Springfield, and as with all such finishes, it tends to develop minor scratches almost immediately with use. Even though the pistol is new, it already has a couple of minor scratches in it.
I'm wondering as this thing builds up more scratches over time, is there an easy way to polish out the minor ones, without damaging the finish and without going through a major hassle? Can I just use something like Flitz and rub out minor scratches, or is that a no-no on a polished finish like this?

husker t.... is that the same blk stainless gun that you have posted in the Springfield forum.
If is do not use Flitz or any other kind of polish on that finish. That is a coating type finish over Stainless Steel. It is actually a Delicate Finish having no more wear resistance than a blue finish gun. If you try to polish any areas with an abrasive type polish you will have a real mess on your hands

Having that black around the polished, it would take a very steady, and experienced hand to re-polish and not screw up the black.
You could probably use a peice of denim in one of those hard rubber sanding blocks (holds the paper with nails sandwiched in a slot on either end) and some fine polishing rouge. Might still mess up the edges of the black.
Like anything polished, Including plating on top a polished finnish (any full gloss, mirror type finnish), its a fact of having that finnish. Hair scratches and scuffs will happen.
Character in anything is better, it shows your not scared to use it. If you want a showpeice, you have to put one under glass, because handling alone will scuff and scratch.
OR, get it high polish hard chrome. Same problems just take alot longer.
