I am a new member. I recently purchased a new Custom II.
I took my new kimber to the range the day after I bought it. Of course I cleaned and lubed before I went. My range master, who is also a gunsmith of 30 years, asked to see it. After looking over the new gun he told me that when a new round is being pushed up after firing a shot, the very edge of the shell casing can sometimes catch on the top of the firing pin hole, causeing the gun to jam. He said that this happens to kimbers more than any other manufacturer. After asking him what I could do to stop the problem before it starts, he took his Dremmel tool and touched the top of the firing pin hole twice just to take off a very, very small amount. I have now shot 1,000 rds throught it and have not had a jam yet.
Finally, the gunsmith, Jim Mitchell, also has come up with a RIGHT SIDE MAG CATCH! It takes the standard mag catch and moves it to the right side of the grip enabling you to change mags with your right hand trigger finger without having to shift your hand to be reached by your thumb. It may be something to check out, www.bulletworks.com
