Help....should the hammer on my PT1911 fall to half-cock when the thumb safety is released ? It does this "occasionally". That seems to me like something isn't working right. Also, I have just noticed (with the pistol UNLOADED) that the thumb safety FAILS and I am able to release the hammer even when it is in the locked (up) position. Again, this seems to be happening 'occasionally'. What's going on ?????
Thanks,
jd

I don't think either of those two conditions you mention are right, and I'd say a call to Taurus is in prompt order. There's no way that the hammer should be able to fall if the thumb safety is engaged. There's no way for the trigger to be usable with the thumb safety engaged.
You could detail strip the pistol and remove the thumb safety to see if there's something visibly broken.

Thanks Tom....I think Taurus needs to take a look at it. It's surprising...I have had no trouble up to know and I really like this pistol.
