Well I have looked through the Para thread's and did not see one
So here, post your Para pistols here.
26th March 2005, 12:24
This is a pic of my Para P-12 which I recently had customized. The works include:
1. Custom-made front and rear sights with green fiber-optic inserts.
2. Barrel attachment at the end of stock P-12 barrel (it's actually a compensator but I didn't have any holes drilled yet).
3. Custom-made trigger.
4. Custom-made mag-well welded on to the frame.
5. Extended slide release (King's) and extended thumb safety made from the stock one.
6. Full-length guide rod with plug.
In the future, I'm going to have a rail attached for my soon-to-be purchased Insight tactical light.

Anyway, I like the work that's been done and am looking forward to shooting this a lot. Would you believe this is my carry gun? Hahaha! :D
26th March 2005, 15:57
I'll play. Got this last week. So far 900 rounds with no malfunctions. I changed out the plastic mag release with a steel one, I also want to change out the plastic front sight with a fiber optic one from EGW. So far so good. :) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v219/xx78/P16-40Limited.jpg

Para Tac-Four, Pearce grips, arched MSH.
Sorry about the oil - it had just been cleaned when I made this shot, and haven't managed to make another.
(And it is my avatar.)
2nd April 2005, 00:35
Para 7.45 LDA that I just picked up used. I fitted a MGW barrel bushing, wolff 18.5# spring, and got some custom alumagrips done by gungrips.net. I also polished the slide to remove some marks from the previous owner. This si my first 1911 and certainly won't be my last.
The pics are kinda poor and don't do it justice.
2nd April 2005, 01:36
You'll have to excuse the quality of the pics...my digital camera shot craps so I took these with my camera phone. :D I'll will be taking delivery of a Para Nite Hawg next week. I already purchased another STI trigger like the one on my S14 to go on the Nite Hawg.

And yes, that's real Canadian snow. :D And yes, I do think its a good idea to toss one in the snow every once in a while. I mean the gun, oh never mind.

16th July 2006, 00:51
I'm in lust.... :p
I picked up esssentially the same gun in "Midnight Blue" as an SA about two months back. A little much for concealed carry but it shoots superbly.
Did you add the arched MSH? I put one on mine, along with Pearce "modular" grips. (Finger-groove thing that you put your original wood over top of.)
(It's a bit darker blue than it looks here.)
16th July 2006, 11:33
The pistol is exactly as it came from the factory. Here is another picture.

In stainless too.
I'd like to install a fiber optic sight, a Dawson would be nice.
Looks like the front sight is dovetailed and staked. If anyone has upgraded let me know what you had to do.
I bought it used for $500. Came with two 10 round and 5 high cap mags.
I reloaded some ammo today for a trip to the range tomorrow.

Sweet little thing!
Now, whoever is responsible for the colors on those things must be taking something. All other controls in stainless, why on earth is the trigger black??
Could it be carbon fiber ;)
Here are pics of my P14-.45 and Tac-Four .45 :D

hitman in the house!
can u see it?
18th August 2007, 02:59
here is my work gun. its the low end model, but shoots like a dream.
these are preban 15 round extended mags that easily hold 16 rounds.
with one in the pipe thats 49 rounds, makes the local cops jealous. they carry 9mm with 15 round mags and i carry more in .45!
i included my ASP baton as its fun a parties!
http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w313/prophet42/scared011.jpg http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w313/prophet42/scared010.jpg http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w313/prophet42/scared009.jpg
she may not be the fanciest or prettiest but i built an original para frame up many, many years ago and had to sell it to buy a 9mm for work.
when i found this used for a good price i had to get it. it took some convincing to get my boss to allow it. he did not believe there was a DA 1911 out there!
the carry ammo is Winchester ranger 230 grain +P
23rd August 2007, 03:18
well im refinishing my frame. i think it looks better

5th January 2008, 03:48
Well, I did it again.... I promised George I'd pick up another Para last year, and managed to do it on 12/31/2007....
I'll try to get a better picture when time (and weather) permits.
This is a Para CCO - 7+1 LDA in stainless. 3.5" "bull" barrel on an "Officer's" sized frame. I added the Pearce "modular" frontstrap cover, and the arched MSH. (Originally this was one of those "Griptor" models.) Night sights came on it, too. They appear to be original - NIB gun!
The "stock" magazines were the older "steel floorplate" variety, but since I had some of the newer "pinkie groove" mags around (and like them), I put them into service.
The gun doesn't like my 200gr lead SWC load very well - about one failure to chamber in a dozen rounds. I think the chamber needs some gentle polishing. JHP's and 230gr round nose lead run through it fine. I don't care if it's a little fuzzy with range reloads - a little "clearing practice" doesn't hurt.
I actually went in there to grab up one of two used Warthogs I'd seen a couple weeks before (I'd been sick), but they were gone. The dealer wanted too much for what he had, but managed to pull this one out of the air at just a tad above his cost. Old stock - he really wanted to get it out of there, and the price he came up with was close enough to my target that nobody minded.
Regards, (& Happy New Year!)

My first Para...a 14.45 in Midnight Blue.
15th January 2008, 19:45
I bought this one new. And it still runs great.
P14/45 with an alloy frame.
4th February 2008, 19:47
Here is my para. I really like the LDA trigger!
8th February 2008, 13:43
Check out my modified Para!
16th February 2008, 17:11
Nothing fancy - P14-45.
Robert Barkman did Black Rogard on the slide, NP3 on the frame and magazine.
16th February 2008, 21:19
Here's my Para with STI slide, and that bull barrel peeking out is a
Limcat tungsten barrel in cal 40.
16th February 2008, 21:32
Here's the same Para with stainless slide with 38 super Schumann. I also slip a
9mm barrel every now and then in this same slide.
24th February 2008, 02:51
Nothing special YET, so I thought I would be creative with the picture. Soon to add the stainless steel mag release, as well as hopefully some custom grips and a maybe a different trigger.

Just got a pic of my para sx1345 LTD that I purchased about a month ago.....enjoy.
And now he can join the gang....
11th March 2008, 01:17
xx AG xx:
I've had one of those for just coming up on 2 years.
I added the Pearce "Modular" frontstrap cover and the arched MSH ('cause I like 'em :D).
Mine's been 100%. Note that the "paint" finishes may be a little likely to be a problem. I don't carry mine much, and so far it's been fine. It's mostly a range gun for me. I'm not the greatest 1911 guy in the world, but one night on the range we decided to shoot from 30' and after cutting a good sized hole in the target in the first few rounds, I could have mailed the rest of them in....
(When we decide to do "target", we generally back off to about 60'. After enough of that, at 30' the target looks like a garbage can lid....)

My first Para (3rd 1911 overall):
I've added a set of Pearce rubber finger grooves, and changed to a set of thin alumagrips. It's pictured with a Tripp Research 7-round Cobra Mag.
Only 120 rounds through it thus far, but that should change soon!

Well, I sold the Rock Island on Monday, and today this dang thing followed me home. I just can't seem to shake these things!!
The fit on this thing is amazing in comparison to my buddy's S&W 1911 and my RIA 1911. Frame to slide, trigger...you name it - it's my first quality handgun, and she'll be around for a while (the glock is tupperware, not a firearm :-P ). Treated her to a good detail strip, clean, and proper lube, while I polished the trigger bow, sides of the hammer, and a few other items - made a pretty noticeable improvement on how smooth the trigger was.
24th April 2008, 03:07
Ok I'll play...
24th April 2008, 09:33
Ok ill play as well...My 5 year Anniversary gift from the Wife!

10rds, 45ft, offhand.
2nd May 2008, 17:31
My newest addition. My first Para and first hand gun. 100 rounds through it so far with no hiccups. I need to give it a good cleaning! On a side note, shooting at an indoor range is pretty intense. I could feel the concussion from the guy next to me who was shooting a .44 mag!
15th May 2008, 16:18
I'm sometimes sorry I didn't buy the stainless Tac-Four....
Bought this one instead:
about four years ago.
Only one problem - beside the green color :) - a bad slide stop really ruined the experience until I accidentally figured it out. (I was too stubborn to ship the gun back.)
And one other problem: The spare magazine is kinda heavy :D.... Go with a "Wilderness Trainer" type of belt. You won't regret it.
(Pre-ban magazines tend to have weak springs in them, too. Keep Wolff's web site handy.)
I don't carry mine much, but really only because it's kinda bulky, and I've gotten a little wider since I bought it....
27th June 2008, 01:28
This is my first Para Ordinance. I've looked for one for a good while but they are usually sold out. I got lucky today and found this beauty with the fiber optic front sight.
I'll be doing a review on my blog in a few days after I get a chance to go to the range. I'm already impressed with the feel of the pistol and the fact that I can rest my thumb on top of the safety and have no trouble with depressing the grip safety. The trigger pull is great at just about 4 pounds and crisp.
I think this is going to turn out to be one of if not my favorite 1911.
17th July 2008, 19:53
Here is my First Para, an original alloy frame kit circa 1988 with a stainless Mark IV Series 80 Colt Commander top end, Meprolight adjustable night sights, Ed Brown ambi safety, King's extended slide release, Videcki long trigger, Pachmayr mainspring housing and grip safety, a Dwyer Group Gripper, and Hogue overmolded grips. The old frame kits have slightly tighter diomensions inside the magwell, and some mags get stuck, but the "Pre-ban" factory 15 round models work flawlessly. She has seen ALOT of full house rounds, mostly 230 gr Hydrashocks and TAPs, and even collapsed a couple of recoil springs (I change them regularly and use shock buffers these days) and she still runs like a champ.
...and here is my check baggage when I fly. Pelican case with a mid-90s stainless P14, eight 15 round factory mags, light, knife, cleaning supplies, 160 rounds of Hornandy 230gr TAP hollowpoints. This one is box stock, but will soon get a set of MMC adjustable night sights added, plus a Pachmayr grip safety and mainspring housing. Other than that I'm planning on leaving her as John Moses Browning and Ted Szabo made her. This one has never had a malfunction of any kind, and shoots better than I can wring out of her some days. Hard to go up from there.
Neither gun will win a beauty pagent, most would say, but they get the job done in spades. I'll post pics of my P13 and later. I'm still trying to master taking pictures of guns. It is much harder than it looks. I'm open for suggestions if anyone has any.

27th July 2008, 20:15
Thanks, I should be going out for the break in period this saturday.
If I ever get different grips I was thinking something like this would be nice IMO. I just want to make sure that if I do, they are no thicker than the factory grips.

My first Para. If it's reliable, it will be my new CCW.....
30th May 2009, 22:58
I had been looking for a quality basic 1911 for a long time. So when my local pusher set this Para GI Expert in front on me, I couldn't resist.
I put a wide-spur hammer, medium trigger, GI grip safety and an Ed Brown arched msh on it. The grips came off a Colt. Took it to the range and except for getting bit by the hammer, had a good time. I have since filed it down. This is a good shooter!

14th January 2011, 01:00
My stock Warthog and re-finished .45 LTC. I bought the LTC used this past November. The factory coyote brown finish was badly worn so I sent it off to Robar for their NP3 Plus finish on the frame, slide, and internals with Roguard accents. I also had them stipple the front strap. The first pic shows what the LTC would have looked like when it was new.

GI Expert with new Para wood grips I just added. Only 150rds through it so far, three jams I attribute to bad mags (including one jam each using the supplied Para mags).:

Here is a pic. of my Warthog. The finish on the slide started showing more wear than I like, so I just decided I would just polish the slide.

Picked up a used 7.45 LDA, was a bit rough but nothing that could not be fixed. Added night sights, bead blasted the slide, fitted an S&A magwell, hex grip screws, pebbled magwell Ergo grips. Did a tactical mag catch, but did not come out well, so I'll get another and try again. Had a 14-45 Limited and a Tac-4 a few years back so it's familiar territory for me.

I am a new member to m1911 so I thought I would post my newest purchase with these great looking pistols. This is a Para USA GI Expert. I puchased it used with 11 SS magazines. I had problems with FTF, but with some polishing of feed ramp, barrel throat, and extractor modifications it works like a fine machine. Oh yeh, I added the pearl grips, it came with the standard black grips. I also have a Tauris custom .45 that I will post on that site at a later date.

TAC-S: Daily carry gun for years. Gotta love the Commander-length guns. Wilson Combat grips, and Para refinished the slide in black for me.
TX745S: Stock, save for Wilson Combat grips and magwell.
DX189S: Was a project for Open div USPSA 9 Major. Decided it wasn't a project I wanted to continue and have since parted it out.

New guy here. Thought you folks might like to see my daily carry, a 7.45 LDA.

As per request, here's a side view. With daily carry the pistol is starting to show signs of wear but I think it will still hold its own at any BBQ. The grips are elephant ivory.

I picked this up over the weekend, I have not shot it yet but I am very impressed with the fit and finish, there is actually a stainless steel slide and frame underneath the black and tan.

Here is my Para Ordnance P14 made in Canada. I don't have a before picture but it looked like this before mods.
After 2 weeks with my favorite smith.
He added the long dust cover and milled the rails to accommodate lighting systems. Dual spring guide rods. Bull barrel.
Fiber optics with adjustable rear sights.
Integrated flared mag well.
Plastic grips and grip bushings were removed. The holes on the grip were patched up and serrations were added around the whole grip area. It grips like crazy. As thin as a single stack 1911 with wooden grips.

Hi there everyone. I just joined the site and decided to post a project I'm working on. I've been home from work since January while I recover from back surgery and decided to upgrade my GI Expert since I'm bored out of my skull. The gun was originally black but I had it refinished with titanium cerakote and had some ports cut into the slide. I'm replacing all the black components with stainless. Mostly Wilson and Ed Brown stuff. It's been a lot of work since EVERYTHING needs fitting--the grip safety took 3 days to get it right. It's not perfect but I think it looks OK. The extended magazine release required a lot of filing since the shaft diameter was way oversized as well as the usual minor work to the trigger and thumb safety. I'm just waiting for a few more parts and springs and I should be done. I'll post another pic. Thanks for looking--John

In this part of the Southwest, we have a tradition of carrying fancy looking sidearms at BBQ events.
This 38 Super has seen its share of events;
New Year finds many of us at a ranch, last year we had about 80 attending. There are four ranges, shotgun, sidearm, rifle 200 yards and rifle one mile.
Part of this tradition is teaching young ones the basics of shooting, starting with safety. :)
This 125gr Gold Dot left the muzzle at 1436fps and expanded as expected.

One of the handloading benefits is pushing uber velocities with chamber pressure <33,350psi. This Para has been used at critical situations, from rattlesnakes to large, hard charging feral dogs. :)
